Lazy days at the lake

For as many times as we've been to the Mission Viejo Lake this summer it's pathetic I don't have more photos to show for it.

Things 1-3 and Julia, roasting mallows for Sch'Mores (at least that's the way Amy says it. And since she's the one who gets us in the gate . . .)

Wise little Thing 4. Grass doesn't invade a diaper the way sand does.

Peter Piper . . .

. . . picked not-quite-a-peck of not-yet-pickled peppers to munch on in our garden. He's the fattest green caterpillar I've ever seen.

Unless you include animated green caterpillars. Then this guy wins, hands down.

Thing 3 provides scale for reference. Don't think I employed fancy angles or lens - I'm not that savvy a photographer.

Now what would you do if you had a houseful of Things and a garden you were trying to maintain through the end of a pitiful growing season?

You'd uproot a pepper plant (still supporting said caterpillar), put it in a plastic container, set it in the window, and read it a story, of course.

And what better story than the Eric Carle classic, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"?
